Conciliation.

Conciliation is similar to mediation. The neutral, the conciliator, helps the parties to settle and may also put forward proposed terms.

Mediation or conciliation?

The two terms are used differently by different institutions and in different contracts. In a common usage, a mediator facilitates discussion and a conciliator may also suggest terms of settlement. We confirm what the contract or the parties mean by the term before an appointment.

How it works

  • The conciliator meets the parties and reviews the documents.
  • The conciliator may propose terms.
  • The parties are free to accept or reject the proposal.
  • Accepted terms are recorded in a signed agreement.

Limits

Unless the parties accept the proposed terms, the process does not bind them.
